I decided back in July while attending Comic Con that I would have to do a piece for the new movie Sucker Punch. I took several pictures of the statues that Gentle Giant had and instant saw that this would be Huge !!! I never however suspected it would be so amazing. I just recently saw the movie and it was more than i hoped. The quality, the story, the imagery, the angles, the lighting, coloring, mood, soundtrack, Everything exceeded my expectations and left me in aw. Sucker Punch was put simply Amazing. With a stellar cast that worked amazing together the story followed a girl by the name of Baby Doll in Sucker Punch. Since the movie release, artwork for Sucker Punch showing Baby Doll and the other characters has exploded through the net and it has become tough to be original as the studios only released a few good images. As suspected withing days all the images had been drawn time and again.

I was able to sit at my desk last night for the first time in a while with one goal. Draw an Original Sucker Punch Poster with Baby Doll. After that the rest would fall in place. Well thanks to the wonderful world of cosplay i found an image i very much liked and with some editing, adding and cutting was able to make the costume more screen accurate and add Baby Doll face to it.

The poster really does tell the all end tale and sets for a magnificent finally that will no doubt make movie magic and history. Harry Potter has become quite possibly the most known character world wide and the following is unmatched. This Character that follows a world of fonder and magic has grown before our very eyes and in our imaginations and has a connection with current fans that not many movies or book series have. Harry Potter and cast set forth to end the story and give us all the much anticipated conclusion that will answer all questions, set rest to all doubts and reveal the The Deathly Hallows Part 2 end.

Its quite sad that we will soon have the end. As much as i look forward to the final chapter, I’m also saddened by the thought that the story comes to an end. Watching the stories unwind and the characters grow has been an experience that has for a very long time kept us interested and excited. The creations of the movie magic makers has been no doubt nothing but eye candy. My fear is that with as huge a s Lord of the Rings was, the story was soon forgotten and set aside. The movies are rarely spoken of or even watch by the average American. But Harry Potter in my opinion is so much more than that. Hopefully we will continue to be surprised and find new magic in the story even after it ends.

the new  Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 Poster sets a tone that was much needed. It was a time to end the magical illusions and warm fuzzy feelings we all got. Friendship, loyalty, Family, love and much more have set our story and brought it to one final idea. There can be only one. In the end the story has always been about Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort. So a more amazing image of that conflict would have been tough to create. Its raw, grungy, Its Perfect.

It was a tutorial for another artist that wanted to see my process.

Its been a while since i can recall truly looking at a professional movie poster and thinking that a child could have been better. This year, the newly released X-men First Class posters have made me think just that. Using the photo shop skills of an amateur the reaction across the web to these horrible attempts is unanimous in hate. This movie has been the topic of discussion around the web with it hype of a solid relaunch to the series. The idea of a first class movie instantly found success and with a solid logo and a few previous posters seen, the buzz was that X-men First Class would no doubt be one the must see films of the year. But, with time people have grown worried with casting, imagery, and clips. Now its almost insulting that the studio putting out these poster would think that movie fans and goers would would have anything positive to say about this. If anything, its a slap to the face in showing very little passion and effort and sending a message of mediocrity. Although the concept was decent, the execution is what fans see in the end and its horrible. X-men Posters with talking crotch images….

I’m not a critic for the movies and i know that personal taste comes into play with every review. However, we have all come to expect a certain level of professionalism from big budget movies. We’ve grown accustom to amazing posters and pieces of art that serve their purpose well. In the end, the idea behind each poster is promotion. To show an image that makes the movie look like the best next thing and creates a rush through people to have to see that movie. Over time things have changed but i think we can all agree that no posters match that of Drew Struzan’s posters and to allow posters like these to replace the great artists out there is just wrong. Its as though there were no sense of pride in their work, and its just about the money. No art to the film, and frankly its just disappointing.

Here is what a movie poster should look like. A tell all story on its own, that captures the eye and makes you want to rush and see the films. Not the Talking Crotch Face posters that X-men First Class Offers

Breygent has released the promo sheets and officially announced the new Vampirella Sketch Card series to be release in a few months. Like all sketch card sets this will have a killer cast working on the set. With Breyent quality sketches that are always hand picked and top notch this set is sure to be one of the better releases of this year.

Just got the word about Vampirella Cards about a month ago. So when i was invited to work on the set i was ecstatic. Not only is it a very popular character, but its also a classic that continues to attract new fans with every release. The opportunity to work with Breyent on such a great subject matter will definitely push me to achieve a whole new level with my sketches.

Following the full color, finished illustration policy will be time consuming and an challenge on its own. But a welcome one. Having done a lot of star wars sketch cards with the most recent being galaxy 6 with Topps, this will be a welcome change to refresh myself and put some reference material aside for a little while, Until the next star wars set of course.

I never really got what all the hype was about. I kept hearing about the conflict between people on what show is better. The teen vampires or the hick ones (twilight or True Blood). Well after having worked on Twilight posters and art, i kept being asked to do some true blood stuff also. But i was never familiar enough to work on these.

Lets be honest, Twilight is designed and geared toward 13 year old teens and besides the sad older women who also obsess with it. The Quality and story have all been done before.  It falls short in quality in so many ways like using 1982 technology for a big part of the movie with zip lines up trees, having an underage actor topless become the obsession of overweight older women, and the idea that a Vampire sparkles, well we just wont get into it. But int he end it was at the right time and geared at the right crowd for success.

It has created a big open doorway for all things vampire in terms of acceptance on TV and film. The day in and day out story of Vampires vs humans, until werewolves show up… has been told over and over. Many times with quality like in the Underworld series with actual actors and a real budget.

Since spawns of vampires shows continue to spam our networks and I found myself watching one lately. True Blood, not sure if it came before or after. An adult show no doubt with guaranteed nudity per episode it follows the same line of thinking. Vampire falls in love with normal girl bla bla bla. However it is incredibly addictive and the shows has many great qualities. The characters are likable in their own way and two seasons in i cant stop wanting more.

Waiting for the third season has become annoying and with the forth already under way I’m rapidly falling behind. But i am feeling inspired. I have always been asked to create artwork for this show and never really wanted to.. Not that i refuse to, but i hate drawing things i know nothing about as i will always fall short. People always ask why a character was not added, or why a few are in the final image. I felt that i had to understand and watch the show before i could accurately represent it with images of my own creation.

In the end perspective matters and i will choose characters that i feel are important. But at least i have an educated interest in the series and know who is what and when.

True Blood is blowing up and taking over all vampire lovers. Having taken over Comic Con last year so many artist out there are already doing artwork for the show, the challenge will be to make something new and better. Fresh and interesting. I cant wait to start !!!

Well I finally finished all of my Star Wars Galaxy 6 sketchcards and  and im glad that i was able to finish them on time . Put a lot of time into them and hope that all the fans like them.

This time around i took on more cards than ever before and with the deadlines cutting close i had to spend some long nights working. The added pressure of working on originally signed cards by Mark Hamill, Carrie Fischer, Ray Park and many more was exciting. There was no undo or errasies on these cards but in the end an original actor signature and my own with my original drawing will no doublt make these cards worth more to fans and collectors.

Now i have to sit down and start thinking Comic Con. Have a few projects that ill be talking about soon. But for now some time to relax and enjoy the deadline free life.
